The Children’s Justice Alliance is the organizing entity for a variety of partner programs that provide services for children of those involved in the criminal justice system and their families. In addition to coordinating comprehensive services for children and family members, this 501(c)(3) organization provides policy leadership, makes research-based programming recommendations, offers technical assistance and training for partners, and raises funds to provide financial support for programs and research.

Special Kids…Special Dads

Mighty Oaks Children’s Therapy Center

Program offers a support and information network specific to fathers of children with special needs who need clinical treatment at Mighty Oaks. The support network helps fathers with few support systems to deal with the strain, isolation and grief of parenting medically and physically fragile children. This local pilot is now being replicated nationally and builds stronger bonds between fathers and their child(ren).

The Period of Purple Crying

Salem Hospital Foundation

Period of Purple is an evidence-based prevention program designed to prevent shaken baby syndrome (SBS). The program assists infant caretakers in understanding infant crying and taking appropriate steps to deal with the personal frustration evoked by a crying infant. This program is a collaboration of four county regions and includes a significant outreach effort to educate the community about SBS thereby reducing its incidence.

Therapeutic Classroom for High-Risk Children

Family Building Blocks

Program offers a comprehensive array of support services to families living in Polk and Marion counties with children 6 weeks through 5 years of age. Utilizing the recognized relief nursery model, services include assessment and developmental screening, preventative health care, home visits, therapeutic classrooms, mental health, respite care and parenting classes.
